GlobalNet’s New PoP in Zurich

We’re pleased to announce the launch of our new Point of Presence at the Equinix ZH4 data center, located at Josefstrasse 225, Zurich, Switzerland. This launch marks our strategic entry into Switzerland and further extends our network infrastructure in Central Europe.

The Zurich PoP is designed to deliver crucial connectivity and capacity services, including:

- IP Transit. Continuous internet connectivity using BGP with direct access to Tier-1 ISPs.

- DATAIX. An internationally distributed Internet Exchange Network, currently connecting around 580 ASNs with a peak traffic load of 8.7 Tbps.

- DWDM Network. A 15,000 km-long backbone infrastructure providing protected transport routes and robust redundancy across Europe.

These services are offered with flexible port options at 1G, 10G, 40G, and 100G, ensuring scalability to meet diverse needs.

The new Zurich PoP is integrated into GlobalNet's DWDM backbone network, connecting directly to our Frankfurt PoP at Equinix FR5. This integration follows significant upgrades to our node in Frankfurt, including the establishment of a high-capacity DWDM route to the south of the city. We are confident that this ensures fully resilient connections and optimized latency for our clients.

Additionally, the Frankfurt-Zurich route passes through the ROADM node in Stuttgart, which plays an important role in supporting GlobalNet’s ongoing expansion into Central Europe. This infrastructure not only enhances our current network but also lays the groundwork for potential new points of presence in countries east of Switzerland.
